Green papaya is not easy to eat unless it is converted into something tasty and easy for the mouth to crunch it. Besides its delicious sweet and sour taste after becoming Som Tam salad, the green papaya also offer medicinal benefits, especially to women.
And in general, just like the raw one, a ripe papaya fruit is rich in vitamins, antioxidants and minerals. These components like in many other fruits offers many health benefits.
Vitamins found in papaya are Vitamins A, B, C, K, and Vitamin E. While minerals includes Calcium, Magnesium, and Phosphorus. These are good for the body and bones.
An antioxidant named Zeaxanthin in papaya helps to protect against blue light rays. Beta-carotene in papaya, just like those presence in Apricot, Broccoli, Cantaloupe, Pumpkin and carrot is good for the eye and asthma prevention. These antioxidants are also good for prevention of prostate cancer.
Papaya can also help with digestion due to the enzyme named “papain”. No wonder some older people added green papaya when cooking meat. It acts as a natural meat tenderizer. Constipation prevention and a healthy digestive tract is a partial benefits from papaya consumption.
Other benefits of consuming papaya includes lowering blood pressure, improving glucose content in the blood, reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.
Vitamin A in papaya helps the growth of body tissues. Along with Vitamin C in it, consumption of papaya helps for the building and maintenance of collagen.
It is no wonder why papaya is good for a woman, especially if a smooth elastic skin and larger breasts size are preferred. Which, most women do.
Further, in some country green papaya is consumed, as salad named Som Tam.
The belief is that other than beneficial for increasing breast size, green papaya is also good in influencing a proper menstrual cycle.
